Spicy Barbecue Sauce Ingredients: 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce 1 can (16 oz.) whole tomatoes, undrained 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste 1 medium onion, chopped 1 medium cooking apple, peeled and chopped 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 2/3 cup vinegar 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup molasses 2 slices lemon 2 tbsp. chili powder 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 stick cinnamon 2 cloves garlic, cut in half 8 whole peppercorns 1/2 tsp. pepper Procedure: 1. In grill-safe Dutch oven, combine all ingredients. Stir to blend and break apart tomatoes. 2. Remove cooking grid. Place pan on lava rock grate, arranging rocks around pan. ** 3. Cook and stir at HIGH with hood open until mixture boils. Reduce heat to LOW. Simmer until sauce is desired consistency, 1 to 1-1/2 hours. 4. Cool slightly. Strain.
